1 John 2:15-17

Lust

F-LST05

Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, love for the Father is not in them. For everything in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—comes not from the Father but from the world. The world and its desires pass away, but whoever does the will of God lives forever.

Romans 13:13-14 urges us to live honorably, avoiding the dark deeds of the flesh, such as partying, sexual immorality, and strife. Instead, we are called to "put on the Lord Jesus Christ" and make no provision for the flesh to satisfy its desires. This powerful passage highlights the ongoing battle between the flesh and the Spirit. Our flesh often seeks immediate gratification, driving us toward behaviors that lead to spiritual death and separation from God.

Heavenly Father, grant me strength to guard my heart and eyes against temptation. Help me to flee from lustful thoughts and pursue purity in my thoughts and actions. Fill me with Your Spirit, guiding me to honor You in all aspects of my life. In Jesus' name, Amen.
