Proverbs 6:25-26
Lust

F-LST03
Don’t lust for her beauty. Don’t let her coy glances seduce you. For a prostitute will bring you to poverty, but sleeping with another man’s wife will cost you your life.
Proverbs 6:25-26 warns us against the seductive nature of temptation, specifically in the context of lust and infidelity (unfaithfulness). The passage cautions us not to let our hearts be captured by an immoral woman's beauty or to be enticed by her alluring words/images/videos. It emphasizes that the cost of giving in to such temptations can be substantial, leading us down a path of destruction. This warning speaks directly to the conflict between the flesh and the Spirit: our flesh may desire immediate pleasures, while the Spirit guides us toward wisdom and integrity.
In today’s world, we are inundated with messages that glorify fleeting pleasures and objectify relationships. Social media, advertising, and pervasive cultural norms can make it easy to focus on physical appearance or superficial connections. However, this passage reminds us to guard our hearts and minds against these false portrayals.
To walk in the Spirit means developing discernment and making choices that uphold our values as followers of Christ. Pursuing spiritual growth through prayer, meditation on Scripture, and engaging in healthy relationships empowers us to resist the allure of the flesh. By choosing to honor God in our decisions, we not only align with His will but also experience the richness of a life filled with purpose and fulfillment.
Heavenly Father, grant me strength to guard my heart and eyes against temptation. Help me to flee from lustful thoughts and pursue purity in my thoughts and actions. Fill me with Your Spirit, guiding me to honor You in all aspects of my life. In Jesus' name, Amen.
