Galatians 5:19-21
Addictions

F-ADD02
The acts of the flesh are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God.
In Galatians 5:19-21, Paul describes the "acts of the flesh," which include behaviors such as sexual immorality, idolatry, and jealousy. These actions arise from a life led by selfish desires, steering us away from God’s intended purpose for us. When we give in to the flesh, we create obstacles between ourselves and the Spirit, stunting our spiritual growth and relationship with God.
On the other hand, living by the Spirit allows us to tap into the transformative power of Christ. The Spirit equips us to resist the temptations of the flesh and to cultivate the fruits of the Spirit—love, joy, peace, and self-control (Galatians 5:22-23). This journey requires intentionality and surrender as we align our thoughts and actions with God’s will.
By focusing on the Spirit, we can break free from the chains of sin and embrace the abundant life God has in store for us, living in alignment with His purpose and love. Let us seek the Spirit daily, allowing His presence to guide us in our choices and transform our hearts.
Heavenly Father, grant me strength to guard my heart and eyes against temptation. Help me to flee from lustful thoughts and pursue purity in my thoughts and actions. Fill me with Your Spirit, guiding me to honor You in all aspects of my life. In Jesus' name, Amen.
